UPS launches new Saturday home delivery service in Canada

The offering is currently available in Toronto’s greater metropolitan area, and it will expand to more locations by March.

UPS is rolling out a new Saturday home delivery service for customers in major Canada markets, the company announced last week.

The service is available in Toronto’s greater metropolitan area, with customers normally receiving residential deliveries on Monday now getting them on Saturday. By March, it will be available in Greater Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary and Laval.

The new offering is provided at no extra cost to recipients and is part of UPS’ Standard service, which is used for day-definite delivery in one to five days. It also covers available UPS Access Point locations.

UPS noted in its announcement that meeting consumer demand for timely deliveries, even on the weekend, is critical for businesses in the e-commerce era.

“Canadian and U.S. businesses have a great new way to create growth by serving customers with our Saturday residential delivery service,” said UPS Canada President Stephanie Dexter. “UPS is helping businesses meet customer expectations for timely, convenient deliveries.”

At the end of 2024, Standard delivery on Saturday will be available to more than 4.5 million homes in Canada, according to UPS.

FedEx also offers package delivery services on Saturday to most major cities in Canada, according to its website. However, Saturday service is not available through FedEx Ground, its day-definite shipping unit that competes with UPS services like Standard.
